Reinvesting in students and families

Addressing the Achievement Gap and Learning Loss
Liz attended and thrived in St. Paul Public Schools. Today, she knows that far too many students don’t have the same access to the same opportunities and support they need to succeed. The pandemic has only made those conditions worse. Liz will work to ensure that our students receive the support they need to chase their dreams and succeed. This means making sure we invest in our teachers and provide additional support for parents navigating the pandemic. If elected, Liz will push to fully fund public schools, and after-school programs for all students, and ensure that our students have access to the mental health resources and support that they need.

Fighting for Safe and Affordable Child Care
As young parents, Liz’s mom and dad struggled to find affordable child care for Liz and her siblings. Today, working families face a pandemic that makes it even harder to balance work and child care responsibilities. Liz knows parents desperately need access to safe and affordable childcare centers that were decimated during the pandemic. Liz will push increased funding to make quality child care more affordable and accessible on the Eastside. She will also support legislation that supports our caretakers, who tend to be women and people of color.
